Tim Smith

A Story of Redemption, Resilience & Faith

About Me

You may recognise Tim from reality TV or a Current affair……but before that, there is another story.

A boy from the bush who was bullied at school and struggled with dyslexia, at 18 Tim set off to carve his own path in the world. After 12 years in the U.S. flipping houses, bartending & working construction, a chance meeting would see Tim piloting a helicopter for a drug cartel and flying drugs across the Canadian border.

Move forward 3 months and Tim would find himself headed back to Australia with news his Mum was dying, but the reality was much worse, she was in palliative care.

Under pressure from the cartel to return to the U.S. for a couple of days work, he told his Dad and Brother he would be back in a couple of days, he would never see his Mum or Brother again.

Upon arrival in the U.S. Tim was arrested, handcuffed to a serial killer, and sent via Con Air to spend 18 months in a Supermax prison.

Deported back to Australia, he soon learnt from his Dad that his Mum had died and little Brother had taken his own life. Tim’s world shattered and everything changed.

This is a story about redemption. It’s about overcoming adversity, trusting in God, and realizing that the small choices we make have lasting consequences—both good and bad.

We are all human. We all make mistakes. But those mistakes don’t have to define us. What matters is that we learn, we grow, and we become better.

Tim’s story will inspire you to walk the earth with purpose, to leave it better than you found it, for yourself, your family, and those around you. Because in the end, the greatest redemption is not just changing your own life—but helping others change theirs.
